In 1991, Elios Deli was born, and so was I, Vincenzo. From the very beginning, the world of food was part of my story. By 1996, Elio’s took to the road, evolving into Taste of Elio’s, bringing flavours directly to the people and sparking a deep passion in me for creating meals that bring joy and connection.
Growing up in Grimsby, Ontario, I spent countless hours working in local kitchens, learning the craft and the heart behind every dish served. This hands-on experience fueled my ambition, and I took the next big step by enrolling at George Brown Culinary School in Toronto. The formal training combined with my roots in local kitchens sharpened my skills and broadened my culinary horizons.
In 2011, I launched Kings Catering Service’s, aiming to deliver exceptional food and service that could turn any event into a celebration. This endeavour soon led to opening a kitchen in Hess Village in 2013, where I refined my approach and style in a vibrant urban setting.
By 2015, I was ready for the next chapter and opened Taste of Vincenzo’s Catering, bringing a fresh and personal touch to catering services. Finally, in 2020, I returned to my hometown to open The Crushed Tomato in Grimsby, Ontario – a place where the journey comes full circle. Here, I continue to share my passion for great food, rooted in family traditions, local flavours, and the joy of bringing people together around the table.
In 2022, I closed the store and took to the road, focusing entirely on catering. This shift allowed me to bring freshly prepared meals directly to events and gatherings across the region, offering a more personalized and flexible dining experience. Catering provided the freedom to create diverse menus tailored to each client's unique tastes and occasions, from intimate family dinners to large corporate events. The move also helped me build deeper connections within the community, as I met new faces and adapted to various event styles and settings. This transition has been invigorating, turning challenges into opportunities and allowing the food to truly shine beyond the constraints of a fixed location.
